All Tap Dance students should have a pair of tap shoes which will be worn at every class meeting. Tap shoes may be purchased at a dance supply store. This is the best way to ensure the right fit. Dance Supply Etc. in O'Fallon and Head-To-Toe Dancewear in Kirkwood are two stores that are familiar with the shoes required for IWA classes. They may also offer a discount if you mention IWA. Or, you can order from an online distributor, such as Discount Dance Supply. Just follow the sizing guidelines for the brand you choose because dance shoes sizing can be different than street shoes. Or, borrow a pair from a sister, friend or cousin that wears the same size. Just make sure you can keep them for the entire semester. You will need them every day in class!

These tips will help you get the right shoes for class:
- Black is the most common color for class.
- No high-heeled/character tap shoes. Stick with the "oxford" style that have a wider/shorter heel as shown in the picture.
- Although you can find pairs for around $25, these shoes tend to have thinner metal taps that don't offer the same sound quality. No need for top-of-the-line, something in between will be best for this class
